The tour guide here was very knowledgeable and he was local so he talked a lot about Folk Lore type stuff and also facts.
We got to see really great parts of Prague all that had so much history behind them. Prior to the Bike tour I didn't know much about the Czech Republic, but after I found out many facts.
1. In my lifetime the Czech Republic was actually under communist control
2. In 1989 the people of the Czech Republic rebelled against the Communist Party
3. There were many public executions in Prague
4. The maker of the famous astronomical clock, was working on making another clock for another town near by and when the powers to be found out they cut his eyes out. After that he ran to the clock and because he knew it so well, since he was the inventor, he messed up the clock and cursed it so that anyone who ever messed with the clock would die. Then he died in the stairway of town hall which is the building the clock is on.
5. The oldest Jewish synagogue is in Prague (and also behind brian in the photo). It is said that the body of Golem that was created by a Rabbi, lies in the attic. A legend is told of a Nazi agent during World War II made his way to the attic where the Golem is said to stay, but he died as soon as he entered the door. To make sure no one gets to the Golum, the stairs leading to the attic from the outside have been removed to the attic.
6. The smallest road in Prague actually has a light that signals for you to walk or to stop because it's so small that it's only one person wide.
7. In 2002 Prague had its worst flood in over 100 years and on the side of this building they measured the water from all the floods and the top line was 2002 and most of Prague was underwater.
8. Prague even has a love lock bridge. It's on a much smaller level, but it is still there.
9. There is a graffiti wall that is super cool in Prague. It is legal to tag but only in this wall. It was completely painted over 2 months ago and it is already almost filled up again. Anyone can come and write or paint on the wall.
