Plumbing Problems

This last week was my first full week of working from home as a Full time Mary Kay Consultant. It was also one of my husbands business trip weeks. So as Brian was in Mexico, my mom and I were deep cleaning and organizing our house.
Let's just say my moms Norwex products work wonders and our appliances and the whole house looked new. As I was finishing up the last room (the blue bathroom) and cleaning around the toilet, I noticed a small leak. When I examined this closer I decided I should get my mom. After getting her I decided the best idea was to shut off the water to the toilet and not use it until Brian came home and could figure it out. So that's what I did......

Except....
WATER STARTED GUSHING OUT OF THE WALL, like a firehose on the other side!
  Mom: "what did you do"
Me: "nothing, I don't know what to do"
Mom: "we have to shut off main water"
(Me trying to collect every towel in the house to collect the inches of water collecting in bathroom and spilling into hall)
Me:" I don't know where that is, I'll call dad, you call Plunbing Heating Paramedics"
Mom: "what? The paramedics? What's wrong?"
Me: "no they are the plumbers!"

After talking to my dad I realized where to shut off water. When I turned the handle, it snapped off in my hand! FML!

Thankfully there was another handle and I got H2O shut off. A few hours later the plumber came fixed the problem and left, but not before the pipe broke off in the wall.....
Oh and he had to cut a hole in the wall in the Dining Room, which I just cleaned and mopped.
$350 later it's fixed and I've decided every time Brian goes on business I just need to be ready for something to go wrong. :-(

  1. It can really be frustrating when a problem like that suddenly happens. It was a good that your mom was there when it happened. At least you were not alone in facing the problem. It was also a good thing that the plumber was able to fix the problem soon after. In the end, there were still a lot to be thankful for. I just hope it has been installed properly, so that it will not happen again.

  2. I can only imagine your panic when the pipe line broke, and the water just started gushing out from it! Thankfully, it got fixed the same day. That being said, I think it would be best if you inspect certain parts of the house every few months, especially those that deal with plumbing and heating. That way, you can easily address those facilities that need immediate attention before they get worse afterwards.
